Cory catfish come in various species, each with unique characteristics. They usually stay relatively small, around 2 to 3 inches, depending on the species. Some common types include Corydoras aeneus (Bronze Cory), Corydoras paleatus (Peppered Cory), and Corydoras sterbai.
Corys are a schooling fish and it is recommended to keep them in groups of at least 5.
Maintain a stable aquarium temperature between 72-78°F (22-26°C) and a pH level around 6.0 to 7.5. Cory catfish appreciate soft to moderately hard water. Substrate should be smooth to protect their delicate barbels. While they're peaceful, avoid keeping them with aggressive tankmates.
Corydoras are known for their amusing behavior, like "Cory wiggle" and "twitching." They're generally hardy, making them suitable for both beginners and experienced aquarists. Regular observation ensures their well-being, as they may display subtle signs of distress if conditions are unfavorable.
